Have you been rejected by online English teaching job offers many times? Tell me about it, I feel you. I’ve been rejected too and failed to get the tutoring job or even other work from home opportunities, just because I thought I was ready. I thought that everything I needed was prepared, that I was fully equipped. I was so wrong.

Especially if you are a fresh grad applicant, inexperienced, switching careers, or someone who wants to try something new. What if I tell you there’s a big chance you can get accepted on any online teaching jobs if you’ll just be completely equipped, prepared.

I noticed that many of the applicants didn’t even make it to the interview because of the lack of understanding and preparation. If you’ve been reading my blog you might notice that I’ve written topics like this before but don’t worry I added some more information

5 factors to consider to increase your chance of getting accepted to any online teaching schools.

1. Most of these schools are Asia-based.

-If you’ve been applying to online English schools you should know that a majority of the teacher hiring and support teams are based in China/Korea/Japan etc. Make sure to check the time difference.

2. Check your Email Daily.

Sometimes during the application or interview process. Applicants may receive emails early in the morning and late-night due to the time difference. You want to make sure to check your emails daily. And or turn on your email notification so you won’t miss any important emails from them.

3. Take advantage of the support team

-These support teams are amazing/overly-friendly people who put a massive value in treating prospective teachers with respect. I can attest to this. They are extremely friendly as Asian countries have a very high respect when it comes to teachers. Don’t be afraid to ask questions as this will help you understand better.

4. The importance of a webcam and mobile phone.

-In my previous posts about Online English schools and teaching online, I already listed the things you need before applying. You can read the complete post here. One of the things I list is, of course, a camera or webcam-enabled laptop. Teachers/tutors need a webcam to teach online. Many of these schools allow applicants to apply through mobile phones or tablets

5. The Importance of video interviews.

-Video interviews are seriously important. If you apply for an online teaching job, You should know that at some point during the recruitment process you will be asked to be in a video. Options will vary, You will either upload a pre-recorded video demo or you’ll participate in a live video chat with the interviewer.

Take note that live interviews must be scheduled and typically will happen within a couple of days (or sometimes up to a week) from the time a candidate applied. These are very important factors that increase your chance to get accepted.

Most of these English schools require a video of your bio. They want to see and hear how you present yourself before the interview. Here are some tips that could help you.

Tips to ace that video bio or live interview.

1. Introduce yourself with a smile. Like what they say smile with your eyes. (If its a video). If it’s audio make it a point to sound happy and cheerful.

2. Tell interesting things about yourself that are acceptable. Being funny is an advantage, students like teachers who can make them laugh.

3. Tell them how much you like to teach (both adult and kids) If you don’t have the patience. You will soon learn that you need it to stay on the track. But never to worry most kids are submissive.

4. Look presentable- working at home doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t brush your hair. You won’t need to wear a suit and tie. Just wear something neat, clean and not revealing.

It’s the interview that either makes or breaks your way of working from home. Before you speak, you have to make sure you’re on the right track. So how do you ace that interview?

  •  Take note of your grammar. A little brushing up of your English before the interview won’t hurt.
  •  Make your introduction short but precise.
  •  Answer confidently, lively and happy
  •  Let them know how passionate/patient you are especially with children.
  •  Smile.

I’ve read your comments and received your emails. I believed that these factors and tips can really help you get accepted. If you believe that you are now more than ready. I am more than ready to give you the list of work from home schools that can help you earn more or even quit your 9 to 5.
