Singapore is a must-visit country and I must say it’s not “another Asian country” It’s more than that, It’s something else. Although I’ve been to Singapore three times, I knew that I will keep coming back. The scenery, the food, the people.
There are so many things about the country that are worth sharing and worth trying. It’s too many. But if you’re traveling on a budget. Make sure you at least visit or try this awesome list.
1. Merlion-
Singapore trip wouldn’t be complete if you won’t visit the most popular icon of SG. Which is located at Merlion Park. The half lion half fish stands 8.6 Meters tall. Which is big enough for an Instagram moment with you.
2. Ice cream Sandwich. –
This is just pretty easy to grab. It’s almost every corner of the city streets. Ready for a hungry sweet tooth. Some people may find this as just regular ice cream. But for some like me and to kids,
This is a fun way to eat a block of ice cream sandwich in a wafer or colored sliced loaf. And you don’t always have the chance to get to eat it this way. So yes it deserves a few minutes of your time.
3. Flower Dome-
This is another Instagram-worthy place you should never miss. The awesome garden that consists of different flowers from different places is just picturesque. And the cold temperature compliments the scent as well. It gets colder as you go to the top through the cloud walk. It’s just remarkable
.
4.Chicken rice-
When hunger strikes, Singapore has a long list of interesting dishes. So to help you with that. The one that tops this list is the Singaporean Chicken rice. Similar to Hainanese chicken. But my cousin who’s a local.
Told me that the Singaporean has a bit of Cantonese mix of ingredients.. Very light and sometimes spicy too. You can find this to almost any restaurants in SG.
5.Universal Studios Singapore-
If my kids are the one writing this list. This will be the first thing they will write and would write it in every minute they enjoyed the place. They loved it so much we had to go back the following year.
From walking and talking transformers to the wild rides To the wonderful Live musicals on the streets (which I enjoyed) Street dancing performances that would leave you cheering for more
6. Ba Kut Teh-
Sometimes I wish I have a steaming hot ba kut teh during the cold months. It’s a delicious simmered pork rib. It’s funny how I thought it was a tea Because somewhere in my Asian-mix vocabulary, knows this means tea. And yes it wasn’t but that doesn’t leave me disappointed. Knowing how good this food is.
7. Singapore Zoo-
This place is a must- see as well. There are many animals that you won’t get to see is here. Children will definitely be in awe with these creatures. Few of these animals are endangered, unfortunately.
But the one I like the most is the swimming polar bear. I just enjoy watching this bear that seems to care less about the people watching him. Or maybe he really is showing off. This zoo also has a night safari which is a closer encounter with some of the animals.
8. The Singapore Flyer.
Want fine dining with a breathtaking view while on a giant wheel? This is the perfect place to just chill and relax. Taking dinner while your eyes are filled with a stunning view. I always thought this is a good place to propose to the love of your life.
If you’re planning to travel in Asia make sure to add Singapore to your destination. If you have kids, much better. They will surely enjoy this country as much as you do without a doubt. If you’ve been to Singapore, tell me what’s your favorite place or food. I would love to hear from you.
